From IMDB: “Vienna, near future. Every household is supported by a personal assistant robot called Synthia, built by techgiant ENYO. The robot is equipped with a neuronal network and has access to all electronic devices.”
I was assigned by Vienna based creative agency, ‘Mama Said No’ to compose and produce a music soundtrack for Alfa Romeo Austria’s 2019 marketing campaign. The brief was to evoke a magical nostalgia with the music, which featured prominent piano and cello recordings.
I am thrilled that the brilliant filmmaker Tim Glover (and long time collaborator) is producing and directing this exciting film project and has brought me on board as composer. This is the proof of concept trailer that I scored last year.
Tim says of the project, “The most meaningful project I’ve worked on so far is my current feature script I’m developing for screen, “Alex & MOR: (A Love Odyssey)”. I’ve been working on the initial concept for 2 years now, and the current iteration I believe is the most personal to me and aspects of my life. It deals with themes of perception, choosing your life’s dream versus the one you love, and identity”.
Together with the team at Musitecture, we were engaged by Spiesser & Spinner to oversee the entire audio post production for this exciting public service broadcasting project, for which I was personally responsible for the music soundtrack.
The client was the Lower Austrian Health Authority and the advert was part of their 2020 recruitment drive initiative. The project was completed just before the Covid Lockdown hit Vienna.
Evelyn Ruzicka asked me back in 2012/13 to become musical director and band leader for an Edith Piaf theatre revue and CD album recording project. Evelyn herself oversaw all aspects pertaining to the project coordination, song selection and dramaturgy whilst I collected musicians and arranged the music ready for the recording and eventual touring.
Together with the team at Musitecture, we delivered the entire soundtrack package for this image film from Wiener Linien. The catch-word was Freedom, and we developed the theme music around the copy text
We worked with numerous field recordings to bring the various scenes to life. The music concept was found quickly thanks to excellent communication from the creative film production team under Gernot Böhm (Arrow Films).
Together with actor/composer Patrick O. Beck, I was commissioned to score a bespoke soundtrack for the Sakura Film production, ‘Leben’ (dir. Carolin Färber), an original narrative short film drama.
You can view the full version here. Below is a condensed edit of the scenes that featured our music.
Soundtrack featured musicians:
Patrick O. Beck – Guitar, Piano, Glass Harp Clementine Gasser – 5 String Cello Florian Kogler – Guitar Franz Heinrich Lirsch – Contrabass Mark Peter Royce – Piano, Synthesizer, Programming Erwin Schober – Drums
The Soundtrack was recorded at Musikzimmer Wien by our own Kurt Richter.
A Supernatural Action Thriller with Martial Arts and Special Effects…
Josh Jackson and Brian M. Tang’s short, ‘Prebirth – The Eternal War’ is a glorious example of an action thriller short, replete with exciting fight choreography and well realised special effects. But the thing that grabbed me first was the intelligent and well written dialogue throughout the 25 minute film.
I was actually the second composer to join the project; my predecessor had apparently turned in a very orchestra heavy score and both Josh and Brian wanted something more modern. I admit that I’m a huge fan of John Powell, and his score for the Bourne trilogy became an early reference point for style.
I am very happy with the outcome of the score and would absolutely jump at the chance to collaborate with Josh and Brian again in the future.
In the sweltering summer heat of 2019, I worked together with a talented team of composers at RIHA Film, scoring a series of scenes for their upcoming fourth season of ‘Über Österreich’. The concept of the ongoing documentary series is pure “Slow TV”; each episode runs shy of an hour and features a collection of aerial film material from Georg Riha’s expert helicopter film crews, capturing Austria in all it’s majestic glory.
For the fourth season, we are delighted to announce that a selection of the film scenes we scored will be narrated by none other than the former President of Austria, Dr. Heinz FIscher. Scoring music for such beautiful picture and set against such a recognisable voice as Dr. Fischer’s is an absolute career highlight. The fourth series will be released in April 2020 and can be seen during the evening schedule on ORFIII.
